| | Scott LaRoche Scott, like Brian, is an Air Force F-16 pilot. Scott started running while he was stationed in Korea when a friend told him he should do a triathlon. Next thing he knew, he'd bought a bike before moving to his next assignment in Japan. Upon returning to the States, he started racing tris in the larger than life state of Texas where he got the crazy notion to try an Ironman. He signed up for coaching with GEC and for Ironman AZ in 2007. To the consternation of his wife, he got addicted to long course tris and the gear that goes along with it. She races ultra-marathons and is the runner in the family. Scott and his wife also participate in running events, XC Ski races, and cyclocross races. They enjoy being around people who are positive about racing and life in general. | | | | | | | Scott Perrine Scott has been competing in triathlons for 6 years, but was a long distance runner before getting into triathlons. He’s 41 years young, has been married for 20+ years and has three children and is the Sales Manager for BASF Construction Chemicals in Phoenix and is an active member and former president of the Phoenix Triathlon Club. | | | | |
| | Betty Peterson Betty spent most of her life in Southern California before moving to Tucson in 1994. A friend looking to lose baby weight asked others to join her in training for a triathlon. Being an average swimmer in high school and the occasional runner, it sounded like fun. Betty’s first sprint race was in July of 1999. Most of her racing is for motivation to train and to keep genetics at bay. In 2003 she set the goal to complete her first full Ironman distance race by January of 2010, when she would turn 50. Over the next 7 years she balanced family, volunteer time and training. In 2008 she began working for TriSports.com; can’t get much more motivated at work than that! In January of 2009, Betty began working with Bill Daniels, who helped her reach her Ironman goal in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho this past June. While not particularly speedy, Betty finds joy in the accomplishment. Her next big race is the 2010 CA 70.3 and she is currently working on increasing her speed and strength to improve on her 2006 finish at Ironman CA. | | | | | | | Tracy DiSabato-Aust Tracy is an international best-selling horticultural author, professional speaker and garden designer. As a duathlete he was a USAT All-American. He was 15th a/g (3rd American) at Duathlon Worlds (Rimini, Italy '08) and has been a member of team USA in both duathlon and triathlon. He is now focusing on tri's and is generally happy to be out of the water and on his bike. | | | | | | | Rebecca Tschider Rebecca lives in Phoenix, Arizona where she enjoys training with her husband, 2 Alaskan Malamutes (who do not enjoy off season very much) and friends in the Phoenix Triathlon club. She funds her training by working for Intel and funds her travel for racing through her husband’s travel for work. She has been doing triathlon for about 7 years. She enjoys many different race formats from sprints to half ironman and xterra. Her recent focus has been on the half ironman. Next year she plans to take her half iron distance below the 5 hour mark and will be trying for a slot at both the Xterra and Half Ironman Worlds. | | | | | | | Leo Carrillo Leo is just plain fast.
