Tucson Camps

Escape the Cold!  And join us for the fifth annual Tucson, Arizona Triathlon Camp!  Mt. Lemmon, Gates Pass, Sabino Canyon, & Saguaro National Parkare waiting for you.  So put away your sweaters and join us in Tucson Arizona, the Triathlete's Training Playground!
Focus: Aerobic Base Training

Be ready for a high volume of training. This camp is perfect if you are a beginner who is planning a 70.3 distance race, or if you just want to gain some massive aerobic fitness.

Our coaches are Ironman finishers and Kona-proven.  They know how to train athletes.  They also know how to train right so that you enter your race fit, focused, and confident.  Note:  This camp is designed for Ironman training, but you do not have to have an Ironman on your schedule you will get a lot out of this experience.  Each year we have sprint athletes, first-timers, ultra endurance racers, and long course triathletes attend and gain confidence, enjoyment, and fitness!

At this camp, you will:

-          Gain confidence in high volume training for long course racing
-          Gain confidence in racing and finishing an Ironman distance race
-          Test nutritional and hydration strategies for training and racing
-          Have fun and meet new like-minded friends

You will train 15-20 hours including swims, rides, runs, strength training and active stretching.  Long rides are 4-6 hours.  Long runs are 2-2.5 hours.  Swims are 3-5k.  All are coached, coach led, and sagged.  We will push you, but not beyond what you can handle.  We will watch you and ensure you gain strength, rather than go over the edge.  With our coaches, you will gain confidence.

 Typical day:

-          7am – breakfast
-          8am – ride a great Tucson course in rolling hills—sag supported and coaches on bikes
-          12noon – brick run 45 minutes easy, flat terrain
-          1pm lunch and rest on own
-          3pm – swim—coached by Ironman champion swimmer
-          5pm – clean up and relax
-          6:30pm – dinner at one of Tucson’s coolest restaurants with daily awards and fun

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are meals included in the price of the camp?  No.  During our Tucson Triathlon camps, most dinners will be out at authentic locally owned and operated restaurants.  Tucson has an amazing cultural history and we’ve found that most campers coming from the north would rather enjoy the authentic Mexican food that Tucson has to offer, therefore, dinners in Tucson are not included in the price of the camp.  Our Tucson accommodations do have refrigerators and there is a grocery store (Trader Joes) across the street from the hotel for snacks.

Do I need to bring my own workout nutrition?  No.  All workout nutrition for all training camps is provided by Hammer Nutrition.

Does Tucson have a major airport?  Yes.  You should be able to fly to Tucson from anywhere in the country by most major airlines.

Is transportation provided from Tucson International Airport to the hotel?  Yes, however, transportation is only provided on the first day of camp between the hours of 11am and 6pm and the last day of camp between the hours of 8am and 3pm.  Keep in mind, check-in at the hotel is not until 3pm and checkout is at 11am.

Can I ship my bike instead of fly with it?  Yes, we have worked a bike-build deal with our local shop.  If you would like to ship your bike, please contact us for several options.

Can I stay at a different hotel?  We really prefer that everyone stay at the same hotel, which is provided in the cost of the camp.  During camp week, we begin our workouts or meet at the hotel to travel to the venues.  Transportation to the host hotel can not be provided if you choose to stay at a different hotel, therefore you would need to rent a car.  Please contact us if you have questions or special concerns about this.

Are flights included in the cost of the camp?  No, flights are not included.

Is sag support provided?  Yes.  Sag support is provided on every ride
